Jodhpur:
BJP MP PP Chaudhary has been nominated as Regional Representative to the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA).
In a rare gesture, Mr Chaudhary, who represents Rajasthan's Pali in Lok Sabha, was nominated to the committee by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
Expresses his gratitude to the Speaker, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu, Mr Chaudhary said, "I would try my best to represent India on the world forum in the best possible manner towards the achievement of its objective".
From India, three Regional Representatives are nominated and at present, Speakers of legislative assemblies of Punjab and Goa are the two other representatives to the CPA Executive Committee, besides Mr Chaudhary.
Mr Chaudhary said, "The aims of the Association are to promote knowledge of the constitutional, legislative, economic, social and cultural aspects of parliamentary democracy, with particular reference to the countries of the Commonwealth Nations."
