Patna:

The BJP's two-day national executive kicked off with a religious ceremony at the specially designed 'Chanakya Nagar' hall in posh Maurya hotel in Patna at around 11 am.

All senior party leaders arrived in the city for the brainstorming meet where they will discuss the strategy for the forthcoming Assembly polls in Bihar.

Apart from Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who has arrived in Patna, party president Nitin Gadkari, other senior leaders like L K Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and Narendra Modi are also present at the meet. But all eyes are on Gadkari amid criticism of his leadership.

Senior leader Yashwant Sinha is not attending the meet as he is unwell.

Talking about the national executive, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javdekar said the meeting would discuss various issues like internal security, Bhopal gas tragedy, besides issues related to Maoists problem and alleged discrimination being done by UPA government to the states ruled by BJP.

The meet is also in focus as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi are coming face to face. Nitish had earlier refused to share stage with Modi, but it seems they will share the stage this time.

However, the party said that the Bihar Chief Minister had never objected to Modi's visit to the state.

"Kumar is a matured politician and a senior leader. He has never opposed or suggested anything about Modi's visit to Bihar," Javedkar said.

But even before he reached Patna, Modi was already embroiled in a controversy - over one of the pictures used in the advertisements issued in Bihar dailies to project a Muslim-friendly image of the Gujarat Chief Minister.

A news website has claimed the copyright of the picture of young girls working on computers saying that it was of Muslim students in Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh and not Gujarat. The website claims that it was clicked by their photographer in UP.
