New Delhi:
A BJP member in the Lok Sabha has tabled a breach of privilege motion against weekly news magazine 'Outlook' over an article in it wrongly attributing some statements to Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan told BJP member Kirit Somaiya that his notice of privilege is under consideration.
Mr Somaiya said that the magazine has already apologised for wrongly quoting the Home Minister. The quote was utilised by CPI(M) member Mohammed Salim to project the BJP and the ruling dispensation as intolerant. In fact, it was the late VHP leader Ashok Singhal who had made the statement which was attributed to Mr Singh.
The Home Minister had denied making any such comments after which Mr Salim's remarks were expunged from the records.
Earlier during the proceedings, Ms Mahajan rejected notices for adjournment of Question Hour on issues including spiralling rise in prices of essential commodities and rubber prices.
As the Samajwati Party and Left members demanded that the matter of price rise should be discussed immediately, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy said the government is ready to discuss the matter.
