Arun Jaitley:
  • Government had promised to pass the Lokpal Bill
  • BJP wanted amendments to make Bill stronger
  • Our declared strategy was that we will pass Lokpal, not the weak one by the govt but the one with changes
  • This govt knows only how to manipulate, manage and fix
  • The PM and Finance Minister were in the House and yet the government ran away from a vote
  • They took help of a supporting party to create disturbance in the House
  • The govt creates disturbance in order to bail themselves out
  • At the stroke of midnight hour, Panditji had said India will wake up to freedom. Yesterday, when the people were sleeping, at the stroke of midnight hour, the biggest fraud was taking place. If that was freedom at midnight, yesterday it was flee-dom at midnight.
  • Balance of coalition is unstable
  • A govt which runs away from vote should not be allowed to rule anymore
  • We have a core group meeting today
