BJP's Prakash Javadekar said Congress leaders are politicising the issue.

New Delhi: Tragedy struck Dussehra festivities in Madhya Pradesh's Datia district, nearly 400 km from Bhopal, with at least 115 people killed and over 80 injured in a stampede near a temple yesterday morning. Address a press conference, BJP's Prakash Javadekar said Congress leaders are politicising the issue.

Below are the highlights:

  • This is a very unfortunate tragedy
  • More than 100 lives have been lost
  • It is national tragedy
  • Every year we hear such tragedies- Nasik, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Sabarimala
  • Centre must survey important places of pilgrimage
  • Centre should prepare a national disaster plan and help states
  • Instead of doing this, every Congress leader from Kamal Nath, Scindia, Maken and Satyavrat are playing politics because of elections
  • We condemn this attitude
  • There is an election code of conduct in place so no leader is allowed to go.
  • Congress' approach is political
