Bangalore: The BJP is making ambitious promises about improvement in infrastructure if the party is given the mandate. LK Advani released the party's Infrastructure Vision Document in Bangalore on Tuesday.
Vote for the BJP and you'll be on the fast highway to progress - several kilometres a day faster - says L K Advani as he compared the NDA government's 11 km a day of highway building with the UPA's 5 km a day.
"The present government did not drop the ball on infrastructure development - it never picked it up," said L K Advani, BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate.
The BJP promises time-bound implementation of 100 projects.
Some of BJP's poll promises
- 24 X 7 power to every home, farm and factory - 20 per cent of power generation from non-conventional sources.
- Highways to every Indian city and pucca roads to each village
- A dedicate freight corridor to all four metros
- Broadband Internet connectivity to every village at cable TV prices
- Quick implementation of the river-linking project - irrigation to give more crop per drop
The BJP chose to release their infrastructure vision in a city that seems to have more than its share of infrastructure woes. But the thing about promises made by any party - they need to be fulfilled.
"They are telling the same things but when they were in power they did nothing to the people in terms of infrastructure. It is just a political stunt," said V S Ugrappa, leader of the Opposition, Karnataka Legislative Council.
