The BJP is in damage control mode after senior leaders including Jaswant Singh went public with their criticism of the leadership after the party's Lok Sabha defeat.
A series of meetings have been taking place in the capital. Rajnath Singh and LK Advani met on Friday and according to sources, the tussle between Jaswant and others was discussed at the meeting.
Rajnath Singh has also met Narendra Modi and Varun Gandhi.
However, sources say dissenters like Jaswant and Sudheendra Kulkarni may face some kind of action. Jaswant had criticised several decisions taken by the BJP leadership at a closed-door meeting of the party on Wednesday.
In an interview to NDTV, he openly questioned the party's defining mantra of Hindutva and said the party had no clarity on what Hindutva meant or stood for.
He also said that extreme elements had dented the party's image and it was in danger of becoming a party of yesterday.
Apart from Jaswant Singh, the NDA's former national security advisor Brajesh Mishra has criticised his party's campaign going into elections.
Mishra said the public did not like the politics of negativism adopted by the BJP and said that someone like Varun Gandhi should not have been given a ticket.
However, BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy denied any action against Jaswant. He said the Jaswant Singh had raised certain issues that will be discussed in the party forum.
