The BJP high command has asked BC Khanduri to step down as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and he may put in his papers on Tuesday or Wednesday. Party is yet to decide on replacement. Prakash Pant and Ramesh Pokhriyal are frontrunners for Uttarakhand Chief Minister's post.
All Uttarakhand BJP MLAs have been called to Delhi to meet and elect new leader on Wednesday. This move comes after the BJP fixed responsibility for the poor showing of the party in the Lok Sabha polls where it was routed in Uttarakhand. The BJP had lost all 5 Lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand.
Khanduri, who is in the capital, party sources said. The decision was reportedly taken at a meeting of the party leaders at the residence of senior leader L K Advani, which was also attended by party President Rajnath Singh.
