BJP sends books on RSS to Rahul Gandhi
Lucknow: Upset over Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi's remarks about the "fanatical" Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), the Uttar Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Thursday sent a collection of books on the Hindu group to Gandhi to enlighten him about its "contribution in nation building".

"We want that the 'Yuvraj' (prince) of the Congress must learn first about RSS before giving any comments on it. For this, we have sent a collection of six books to him," BJP spokesperson Vijay Pathak told reporters here.

"We hope after reading the books, ignorant Rahul will gain some knowledge about the Sangh and also the activities the organisation undertakes for helping the citizens of the country," he added.

According to BJP officials, the six books have been sent by post to the address of the Congress office in Delhi.

Launching a no-holds barred attack on the RSS, Gandhi in Madhya Pradesh Wednesday branded the Sangh Parivar outfit as "fanatical" and equated it with the outlawed Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).

"Before making such remarks against RSS, it would have been better that Rahul should have first consulted the home ministry officials... Rahul must tender an unconditional apology for his irresponsible and meaningless statements," said BJP state's unit president Surya Pratap Shahi.
