New Delhi: In this campaign, the BJP has officially brushed its bitter opposition to the nuclear deal under the carpet.
Last July, L K Advani bluntly told parliament that if he came to power, he would "renegotiate this deal to make it a treaty between equals."
"Once you are in government, you take a broader picture of what earlier governments have done and then take a holistic view of what can be done," says Arun Jaitley, General Secretary, BJP.
Many believe the BJP would have given much more for a similar deal with America when they were in power and at the height of last year's controversy, Advani apparently told Manmohan Singh that while he supported the deal, he couldn't carry his party colleagues along.
