Kolkata: BJP Yuva Morcha along with other groups today waved black flags and staged a protest outside the venue in central Kolkata where JNU student leader Umar Khalid had come to attend a programme.

The activists of BJYM showed black flags and shouted slogans demanding cancellation of programme where Umar Khalid was scheduled to address.

The police later cordoned off the entire area and removed the protestors even as Khalid went on attending the programme.

"In democracy everybody has the right to express his views," Umar Khalid later on told reporters.

JNU student Umar Khalid, who is facing sedition charge for allegedly raising anti-India slogans at the premier university campus in February, had been granted permission by a Delhi court few days back to travel to Kolkata to attend a panel discussion.
