BJP's Leader Sonali Phogat's Body Found With Multiple Blunt Force Injuries: Updates

Sonali Phogat, 42, died on Tuesday morning in Goa, where she had gone with a group.

A murder case has been registered in the death of the BJP leader.

BJP leader Sonali Phogat died in Goa on Tuesday. According to reports, she had gone with some of her employees to the seaside state. The post mortem report said today "multiple blunt force injuries", hours after two of her associates were charged with her murder.

"There are multiple blunt force injuries over the body. In view of the above, the manner of death is for the investigating officer to ascertain," the report said.

A murder case has been registered in the death of the BJP leader.

Her brother said the family will allow the postmortem only after the Goa Police register an FIR or police case against the two persons

AAP Questions Goa Government In Sonali Phogat's Death

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday questioned the BJP government and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for trying to create a narrative that there was nothing suspicious in the death of BJP leader and social media influencer Sonali Phogat.

"The family of the victim has filed a written complaint suspecting rape and murder and has even named the suspects including her personal assistants. The sister of the victim has stated that Sonali felt uneasy after her meal, and told the sister that something fishy was going on," said State president Amit Palekar.

The brother of the victim has claimed that Goa Police is not cooperating with the family. "On what basis is the CM certifying "cardiac arrest" as the cause of death, when the family has confirmed that the victim was physically fit and is suspecting foul play? Why is Sawant ignoring the appeal for justice by the 15-year-old daughter of the victim?" Palekar asked.

No Sharp-Edged Injuries Found On BJP's Sonali Phogat's Body: Goa Cops

Goa Police on Thursday said no sharp-edged injuries were found on the body of the actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Haryana Sonali Phogat who died in Goa on Tuesday.

The Goa Police on Thursday also registered a murder case against two persons for their alleged involvement in the death of Sonali Phogat. Her body will reach Delhi tonight.

"Murder case has been registered against two persons in Anjuna Police Station. The probe in the case is underway. The victim's brother has mentioned the involvement of her PA and one other person. Post-mortem report expected in 1-2 hours. Victim's body will reach Delhi tonight," OS Bishnoi, Inspector General of Police, Goa told ANI. Read more

The Goa Police on Thursday registered a murder case against her personal assistant Sudhir Sangwan and his friend Sukhwinder Wasi, who were with Sonali Phogat when she arrived in Goa on Monday.

The BJP leader's brother alleged that a short while before her death, Sonali Phogat had spoken to her mother, sister and brother-in-law. She sounded disturbed and complained against her two colleagues.

Sonali Phogat's 15-year-old daughter Yashodhara sought justice for her mother.
