Bodh Gaya: One of the bombs that ripped through the Bodh Gaya temple premises on early Sunday morning was placed 20 feet high on a statue of Gautam Buddha, forensic analysts said today.
Initial analysis of the bombs points to the use of ammonium nitrate in them. The nature of the bombs used in the blasts, allegedly by Indian Mujahideen members, was similar to those found in Jaipur, Pune and Ahmedabad blasts, analysts said.
The forensic experts have also ruled out the use of RDX in the blasts.
Experts said about 150-200 grams of ammonium nitrate was used in each bomb in the first ever attack on the holy site in which two Buddhist monks were injured.
They added that ball bearings and nails were used as splinters in the gas cylinders in which the explosives were packed. The analysis revealed that the bombs were triggered by analogue timers set at 5.30 am.
The Bihar Police have detained a man for questioning.
