Chandigarh: Officials from the French embassy in Delhi were in Chandigarh this morning to collect the body of a French citizen who died after being beaten unconscious on a train travelling through Haryana.
33-year-old Frank Wilfred died in a Chandigarh hospital yesterday. He was found at the Karnal station on Sunday, where he had been dumped with serious head injuries. He was travelling on the Sachkand Express. The police believes he boarded the train in Delhi and was headed to Amritsar in Punjab.
The police has arrested a train conductor, Manoj Kumar, for Mr Wilfred's murder. They say they found travel documents belonging to Mr Wilfred with the conductor. Mr Kumar says he is innocent.
