Phagwara: Body of a new-born boy was found near a garbage dump at Gobindpura industrial area along railway lines between Phagwara and Phillaur rail section, police said on Friday.
The body was spotted by some people on Thursday who informed the police, local government railway police in-charge Gurbhej Singh said.
Stray dogs might have eaten some parts of the new-born's body, he said.
A case under Section 318 (concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body) of IPC was registered against unidentified persons, he said adding the GRP has sent the body for post-mortem.
