Goalpara, Assam:
A crude bomb was recovered from National Highway 37 in Assam's trouble-torn Goalpara district on Sunday, police said.
The powerful bomb, kept inside a plastic packet, was spotted at a place near New Dudhnoi area by the locals who informed the police.
The Army's bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot and the bomb was defused at a safe place. Earlier, on November 8 four bombs were recovered from railway tracks between Dudhnoi and Krishnai in the same district.
Goalpara and parts of neighbouring Kamrup district have been witnessing violence since last month with non-tribals demanding exclusion of non-Rabha areas and protesting against the forthcoming Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council elections scheduled to be held between November 13 and 25.
