Jajpur (Odisha): A class IX student got drowned in Kharasrota river near Mirzapur ghat under Kuakhia police station limits in Jajpur district during immersion of Lord Ganesha idol, police said today.
The deceased has been identified as Soumyaprasanna Nath, a student of Madhuban High School.
Police said, Soumyaprasanna had gone to the river ghat with other students of his school for immersion of Ganesha idol yesterday. He got carried away by water current and drowned.
On being informed, fire brigade personnel reached the spot and started search operation. His body was recovered from the river after sometime.
