Patna:
Police are yet to identify the accused in the horrific incident in Bihar, where a 13-year-old poor hawker, Shahabuddin, was brutally thrown off a moving train near Muzaffarpur, allegedly by a Railway Protection Force officer.
The boy has lost his left leg following the incident and is now undergoing treatment at the Muzaffarpur Hospital.
While narrating his ordeal, Shahbuddin said the constable knew he was travelling like most poor hawkers do, but he cornered him for a bribe. Further, his inability to pay the bribe made the constable angry.
"The RPF guy, the one with a black cap, came to me and asked for money. I said, take the money. Then he asked me for my license. I didn't have one. Next, he pushed me off the train," said Shahbuddin.
''A few RPF personnel, who were on duty on that train, were paraded in front of the boy but he failed to recognise the accused. The boy insists that a uniformed constable threw him out,'' said Dilip Kumar, chief public relations officer at Hajipur Railway Division.
According to Mahfuz Alam, a relative of Shahbuddin, ''The government has to help him. Someone must help him as his parents are very poor."
Shahabuddin's story is a tragic one and the least the administration can do to help him is to identify the culprit in this case and deliver swift justice.
