'Brainwashed' Kasab can be reformed, argued his lawyers

Mumbai:
In the face of strong arguments put forth by the Prosecution that demanded death penalty for Kasab, the Defence urged the court to explore the possibility of Kasab's "reform" and "rehabilitation".

His lawyer argued that Kasab can be brought back to the "right path" and must be given the benefit of doubt.

Seeking a life term for Kasab, his lawyer argued:

  • Kasab was an impressionable 21-year-old who was used as a pawn and brainwashed into waging war against India.
  • He acted under the influence of LeT
  • Kasab was brainwashed and influenced by a terror organisation
  • Kasab can be reformed
