Patna:
A brand new IIT is all set to take off in Bihar this week. Teaching at IIT-Patna will however commence on a makeshift campus until it gets its own campus and infrastructure in place.
A few faculty members from IIT-Guwahati, its mentor institution, are already here -- and are impressed.
We have got very good support from the Bihar government. They have built up this temporary infrastructure in two and a half months time,", says Professor Samrendra Dandapat, Dean, IIT-Patna.
109 students, including 7 girls, from all over the country will be part of the first batch here. A few of them have already arrived and are excited.
C V N Chaitanya from Kunoor, Andhra Pradesh, says, ",I am satisfied with the temporary campus. And I'm very excited about the campus.",
Mohit Ahuja, who's from Delhi, feels ",IIT-Patna has turned out to be better than what I had
Imagined.",
On the threshold of a humble beginning, IIT-Patna promises a new dawn for Bihar. The state seems set to regain its rightful place as a hub of academic excellence.
