Banda, UP:
The BSP MLA in Banda who has been accused of rape is in jail but so is the girl he allegedly framed and had jailed.
She is seeking bail now and spoke to NDTV about her ordeal.
''I stand by the allegations I levelled. The MLA had raped me,'' said the girl.
The arrest of BSP MLA, Purushottam Naresh Dwivedi, who she accused of rape has given her the strength to speak out.
She also draws courage from the growing pressure on the Mayawati government to deliver justice.
''However powerful one may be, he must be punished if he is guilty,'' said Law Minister M Veerappa Moily.
''I am concerned that the establishment took so long to react, especially in the case related to a young, helpless Dalit girl,'' said Congress spokesperson Jayanthi Natrajan.
The MLA says, he had given the girl shelter in his house at the request of her father.
The girl's family alleges the MLA raped her, and then got her arrested on charges of theft so she would not reveal the truth.
The girl, who has been in jail for a month now, today pleaded with the court to grant her bail. She also asked the court to provide her security from the MLA who has been issuing threats.
''I will take revenge,'' said the accused MLA from Banda.
The girl talked narrated the threat to NDTV.
NDTV: The MLA has threatened you? Do you sense danger?
A: Yes, I do face a danger
NDTV: Do you think you will get justice?
A: I just want a secure place to live in for now
Her bail application will be heard on January 17.
On that day, the court will also decide if she is a minor so that she can be tried for the theft charges in an appropriate court.
