Lucknow:
BSP MLAs in Uttar Pradesh Assembly today protested against the Central government over rising prices and SP government in the state over law and order situation, leading to the adjournment of the House for over an hour due to which the 'question hour' could not take place.
The MLAs of the opposition party squatted in the well of the House even before the proceedings for the day began in the morning, carrying banners like "Inflation and goons rule in Modi and Akhilesh governments" and "Everything is expensive only life is cheap".
Leader of Opposition and senior BSP member Swami Prasad Maurya alleged that "riots were being instigated" to divert peoples' attention from rising prices and dismal law and order situation.
BJP's Satish Mahana alleged that the SSP of Moradabad (where violent clashes took place on Friday between police and BJP activists over holding of a mahapanchayat) was acting as the spokesman of the ruling party and asked the state government to take stern action against the SSP and those responsible for the trouble there.
Sitting on their seats, the BJP members protested against government action in Moradabad. Amidst the din and slogan-shouting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Azam Khan alleged that BJP wanted a repeat of Muzaffarnagar in Moradabad.
"People from far off places and states had come to Kanth. It was a behaviour like naxals and terrorists and should be probed," Mr Khan said.
He alleged that "anarchy" is being created by BJP to divert attention from the Central government's failures to keep the prices of diesel, rail and essential commodities under check.
"After Muzaffarnagar it has been repeated in Moradabad to win the coming by-elections," Azam Khan alleged.
As unruly scenes continued, Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey adjourned the House first for 15 minutes and then extended it in phases to one hour and ten minutes because of which the Question Hour could not be held.
