New Delhi: The Prime Minister will meet key ministers to try and resolve the GM (Genetically Modified crops) divide within the government.
Besides key players like Jairam Ramesh, Sharad Pawar and Prithviraj Chavan, Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal will also attend the meeting.
Dr Manmohan Singh said that a strong signal must be sent to the scientific community and that the Government's commitment to biotechnology in agriculture remains.
He also added said that It was important to involve the private sector in the biotech field.
The Prime Minister also reiterated that issues and concerns raised by several states on Bt Brinjal have to be addressed.
However, no decision has been taken on which ministry should be the final authority on GM food.
