Budget Session: Opposition parties on Tuesday staged a walkout from the Lok Sabha.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued a whip to all its members in Lok Sabha, asking them to be present in the House today.

The Lok Sabha is slated to take up discussion and voting on demands for grants for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying for 2022-23. The lower house will also vote for the outstanding demands for grants in respect of the Union Budget for 2022-23.

Opposition parties on Tuesday staged a walkout from the Lok Sabha in protest against the recent hike in fuel and cooking gas prices. Members of Congress, Trinamool Congress, DMK, NCP and Left parties raised slogans against the move and walked out of the lower house demanding a rollback. 

The second half of the Budget session of Parliament resumed from March 14 and will conclude on April 8. The first half of the Budget session began on January 31 and concluded on February 11.

The two Houses of Parliament are following the social distancing norms in the seating arrangements of the members by utilizing both the chambers and visitors' galleries.

TRS MP gives adjournment notice in Lok Sabha to discuss India's employment situation
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MP Nama Nageswar Rao on Thursday moved an adjournment motion notice in the Lok Sabha over the employment situation in India.

In his notice, the MP submitted that there are over one million jobs lying vacant "under the control of Central Government".

CPI MP gives suspension of business notice in Rajya Sabha to discuss fuel price hike
Communist Party of India (CPI) MP Binoy Viswam on Thursday gave suspension of business notice in Rajya Sabha under rule 267 for discussion over fuel price hike.

In the first hike in four months, the fuel prices have been raised in India. The price of petrol and diesel were hiked for two consecutive days on Tuesday and Wednesday. Diesel and petrol prices have been hiked by 80 paise. It was in November when the country saw the last fuel price surge.

A litre of petrol in Delhi will now cost Rs 96.21 and diesel will be sold at Rs 87.47 per litre.

AAP MP gives Zero Hour notice in Rajya Sabha over postponement of municipal polls
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh on Thursday gave a notice for Zero Hour mention in the Rajya Sabha over the postponement of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections.

"The State Election Commission has indefinitely postponed the Delhi MCD elections due to the interference of the Central government. The stated reason is that the Central government is to bring up a bill seeking reunification of the three municipal corporations of Delhi and to elect a single mayor. There's an attempt to reduce the number of wards," the AAP MP said in his notice to the Secretary-General of the Rajya Sabha.

The AAP MP also said that it was very undemocratic of the Central government to give such information to the State Election Commission on the day when the dates for the MCD elections were to be announced.

The lower house will also vote for the outstanding demands for grants in respect of the Union Budget for 2022-23.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will reply to the discussion on the Appropriation Bill, 2022 and the Finance Bill, 2022.
