Kolkata:
A bus carrying around 70 passengers was washed away today when it was crossing a flooded bridge over Bhairabbanki River in West Bengal's Bankura district.
The bus was going from Jhargram to Durgapur. It was washed away while crossing the Amritpal bridge near Phulkusuma village at about 1:30 pm.
At least 43 passengers were rescued from the bus with the help of local people, said Mukesh Kumar, the Superintendent of Police. A search operation was on to rescue others.
Earlier, police sources had said that a body of man was recovered from near the bus. Mr Kumar, however, said that he had not received any report of casualty in the incident.
