New Delhi: Food price inflation is giving a headache to consumers as well as the government. Food inflation touched an 11-year high of almost 20 per cent last month.

Government will discuss rising prices of food items like sugar, rice and wheat and is expected to abolish import duties on some commodities.

Government may also extend deadline for import of tax-free white sugar to December 2010.

India's sugar output in 2009-10 to be at 15.3 million tonnes while the domestic consumption is about 23 million tones.
