Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa died on Monday night.

The Union Cabinet this evening condoled the demise of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and passed a resolution hailing her leadership.
Members of the Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, also observed a two-minute silence in her memory, official sources said.
A resolution was passed hailing the leadership of the AIADMK general secretary and condoling her demise on Monday night.
It said in her death, the people of the state have lost a popular leader.
"The Cabinet expresses profound sorrow at the sad demise of Selvi J Jayalalithaa, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on December 5...In her passing away, the country has lost a veteran and distinguished leader, affectionately called Amma," the resolution read.
"The Cabinet extends its heartfelt condolences to the people of Tamil Nadu on behalf of the government and the entire nation," it said.
