BJP Chief JP Nadda has been given the charge of Health Ministry in Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led coalition government. Mr Nadda was Health Minister in PM Modi's first term. Mr Nadda, 63, additionally has also been made Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers.
PM Modi has called his council of ministers "a great blend of youth and experience".
The BJP chief, whose extended term ends this month, is the sole representative from Himachal Pradesh in the BJP-led government. Outgoing Information Minister Anurag Thakur, who won from Hamirpur in Himachal, did not find a place in PM Modi's cabinet.
Mr Nadda, who holds a degree in law, started his political journey with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the students' wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He became president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the BJP's youth wing, in 1991.
He was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2012 and made a member of the BJP's parliamentary board in 2014 when Amit Shah took over as party president.
PM Modi's BJP won 240 seats in the just concluded Lok Sabha poll, 32 short of a majority in the 543-member lower house -- its worst showing in a decade.
This has left the BJP heavily reliant on two big alliance partners - Chandrababu Naidu's TDP (16 MPs) and Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal United (12 MPs). And with help from other allies, it sits comfortably on 293 seats.
