New Delhi: It's a hard day's work for politicians to pull off fiery speeches at rallies in this summer heat but trust leaders to look at some innovative ways to campaign and in the bargain beat the heat! This was something that one could see in Delhi.
For Congress candidate from New Delhi, Ajay Maken, his political exercise begins with a morning walk. But for the health conscious going through their early morning drill at a park in Delhi, on Monday, this was a surprise.
As we take a few steps with him he tells us this exercise of his goes beyond keeping him fit.
"I am losing weight to gain votes," said Ajay Maken.
Barely a few kilometres away, Maken's political rival Vijay Goyal of the BJP takes his campaign to an upmarket gym in Connaught Place.
While on the treadmill, BJP candidate Vijay Goyal in New Delhi says: "The people of my constituency are such that you have to find them and reach out."
So, as it seems, politicians are running that extra mile just before elections.
So, what do voters feel?
"This way you get to know who you want to vote for," says a local.
"We would otherwise never go for a political meeting," says another.
The candidates are trying their best to do what their electorate does to impress them. But will this actually turn into votes? One has to wait and watch.
