Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has responded to Home Minister P Chidambaram's request to come to Delhi to discuss the killings in Lalgarh.
Buddhadeb has told Chidambaram that he can go to Delhi only in the third week of January, that is, not before January 24.
On Friday, the day of the Netai massacre in which seven people were killed, the Home Minister had expressed concern and asked the Chief Minister to come to Delhi at the earliest.
Today, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee also called the political killings unacceptable. (Read: Killings in Bengal 'unacceptable', says Pranab Mukherjee)
"It is very unfortunate and totally unacceptable that every day there are killings and political clashes," he said.
Earlier today, the Kolkata Bar Association filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Calcutta High Court demanding a CBI inquiry into the Lalgarh killings. (Read: Plea for CBI probe in Lalgarh killings)
The PIL also demands Rs 25 lakh compensation to families of those killed and Rs 10 lakh to those who suffered bullet injuries.
