Mumbai:
Amar Singh is back in India after he announced that he is quitting from Samajwadi Party posts.
This is a day after the Samajwadi Party's drubbing in the Uttar Pradesh legislative council polls, partly blamed on the party's disarray after Singh's announcement.
He landed in Mumbai and left for Amitabh Bachchan's house, from where he will head for Bhiwandi to campaign for the Maharashtra by-elections.
Speaking to reporters, he denied any rift with Mulayam Singh though his family has been criticising him.
"I have not resigned for any political reasons. My health condition is not good. I cannot work for long hours. The top leadership of the party has told me the 98 per cent of the party workers are not in my favour. I am just a party worker. Some of Netaji's family members talk about me and hence this debate. I don't want to make any comments on this issue. If Netaji's family criticise me, I will take it as a praise," he said.
Amar Singh resigned as Samajwadi Party General Secretary and spokesman and also as member of the party's parliamentary board on January 6.
