Cash-for-votes case: Will Sudheendra Kulkarni get bail?
New Delhi: A Delhi court is expected to pass orders today on the bail plea of Sudheendra Kulkarni, close aide of senior BJP leader LK Advani, arrested in connection with the cash-for-votes case.

The court will also give its order on the bail pleas of other accused, Mahavir Bhagora and Faggan Singh Kulaste.

A supplementary chargesheet was filed today by the Delhi Police against BJP MP Ashok Argal who was allegedly offered money for the 2008 trust vote to support the UPA.

Mr Argal's name was included in the fresh chargesheet after Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar granted sanction for his prosecution to the Delhi Police.

Mr Kulkarni claims he did nothing wrong and acted as a ''whistle-blower'' to expose the Congress' intentions of securing a majority.

His lawyer Mahipal Singh has argued before the court that there was no evidence that his client solicited anything in lieu of information. He added that not only was there no case under the Prevention of Corruption Act but that there was positive information in court that it was a sting operation.

The police, however, say the Mr Kulkarni was the mastermind of the scam and have charged him with inducing the three BJP MPs to take money from former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh to abstain from the trust vote in 2008.

Mr Kulkarni's arrest comes after the arrest of former Samajwadi party leader Amar Singh and two BJP MPs Faggan Singh Kulaste and Mahavir Singh Bhagora. These two are no longer MPs and are currently in jail.
