New Delhi:
A court in Delhi today dismissed the bail plea of Sudheendra Kulkarni, a former aide of senior BJP leader LK Advani who was arrested and sent to Tihar Jail last month in connection with the 2008 cash-for-votes scam.
The Tis Hazari court in the Capital also denied bail to two other accused - former BJP MPs Mahavir Singh Bhagora and Faggan Singh Kulaste. They too were arrested last month.
Appearing in court during a previous hearing, Kulkarni had said he was ready to go to jail if that was a consequence of his attempt to expose the UPA government's alleged willingness to buy votes to stay in power. Kulkarni is in Tihar Jail under judicial custody.
Kulaste and Bhagora were two of three BJP MPs who accepted a crore in July 2008, ahead of a trust vote for Dr Manmohan Singh. In return, they promised to abstain during the vote. The money was allegedly paid to them by politician Amar Singh, who has also been arrested for criminal conspiracy. Singh has, however, denied all charges against him.
