The incident was caught on camera
Jharkhand's health minister and veteran BJP politician Ramchandra Chandrawanshi said he has "done nothing" after he was caught on camera yesterday attacking a political rival, a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader, in full public view.
Mr Chandarwanshi first attacked the RJD leader himself and then got his body guards to thrash him repeatedly.
"I did nothing. I am telling you. Anyone can say anything. Even if a complaint has been filed, someone could file a complaint against you too," said the minister, hours after the incident even as the video was being circulated.
The incident happened in the state's Palamu district, where Mr Chandrawanshi had gone to attend a function organised by a body that represents the Chandrawanshi caste. The current president of this body is a political rival who belongs to the RJD.
Reports suggest that during this function, the minister and the RJD politician had an argument over appointing the minister's son as the next head of the caste body.
