Lucknow: In yet another instance of police brutality in Uttar Pradesh, two cops belonging to the kotwali police station in Muzaffarnagar were today caught on camera ruthlessly kicking and slapping a mentally-challenged person.
TV footage shows a constable, Devendra Bhati and his colleague thrashing and kicking Anil, said to be a mentally-challenged person employed as a helper in the Kotwali police station, till the time he stumbles and falls on the ground. No reason was attributed to the assault, which occurred this evening. Senior cops at the police station refused to react.
This is the second instance of police brutality reported from Uttar Pradesh within the span of a month. On January 13, a posse of cops were caught on camera kicking, slapping and using canes to hit a group of women who were protesting against the death of two men in an accident in the Rasoolpur area of Firozabad.
