Peter Mukerjea had approached the high court seeking a copy of the statement.
Mumbai:
The CBI today agreed to give a copy of the statement of its 'secret' witness to former media baron Peter Mukerjea, arrested in Sheena Bora murder case, but only after deleting certain portions of it as probe in financial transactions with regard to the case was still on.
Peter Mukerjea had approached the high court challenging a sessions court order refusing to give him a copy of the statement of prosecution witness no. 11, which was submitted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as part of its supplementary charge sheet in a sealed cover.
Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh today told Justice Revati Mohite-Dere that the agency was ready to give a copy of the statement of the witness, but will delete certain portions of it.
"Probe in the case is still on. Letters Rogatory have been sent to three foreign countries seeking information about financial transactions between the accused persons. The witness statement contains certain information about this. Hence that portion will be truncated," Mr Singh told the court.
The court accepted this and disposed of Peter Mukerjea's application.
Peter Mukerjea along with his wife Indrani Mukerjea and her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna have been accused of conspiracy and murder of Sheena Bora, Indrani Mukerjea's daughter from an earlier relationship.
While Sheena Bora was killed on April 24, 2012, the case came to light only last year after Indrani Mukerjea's driver Shyamwar Rai was arrested in another case.
Mr Rai was also arrested in the Sheena Bora case but he later turned approver.
All the three accused - Peter Mukerjea, Indrani Mukerjea and Sanjeev Khanna - are presently in judicial custody.
