New Delhi:
Following the directions of the Supreme Court order last week, the Central Bureau of Investigation or CBI on Sunday constituted a special team of 40 officers, which will begin its investigations into the multi-crore Vyapam scam today.
The team which has officers from different branches of the agency headed by a Joint Director level officer will reach Bhopal today to take over the investigations, an official said. The case was earlier being handled by a Special Task Force, monitored by the High Court.
The agency did not reveal any information about the officers who would be part of the team and also dismissed as "incorrect and baseless" the reports about a Bihar-cadre officer heading the CBI team.
"In compliance to the orders of the Honourable Supreme Court of India, CBI has constituted a team to take over the investigation of all Vyapam related cases. The CBI team will reach Bhopal on Monday and the begin the process of taking over the investigation," CBI Press Information Officer R K Gaur said in New Delhi today.
A bench headed by Chief Justice of India H L Dattu, on July 9, had transferred the probe of all cases related to Vyapam scam to the CBI starting today, asking the investigating agency to file its report before it on July 24.
