Dehradun: Former Uttarakhand chief minister Vijay Bahuguna today questioned the Uttarakhand government's decision to withdraw the notification recommending a CBI probe into the controversial sting CD episode, saying it cannot be withdrawn once has been agreed upon.
"It seems the state cabinet has not been given proper legal advice," he said.
Citing a Supreme Court decision of 1994, he said that the state cannot call off CBI inquiry once it has recommended it.
He also advised the chief minister face the probe.
"There are many things that will get uncovered from sting CD episode and perhaps it is because of this reason that the state Cabinet has decided to withdraw the notification recommending a CBI inquiry," BJP state spokesperson Virendra Singh Bisht said.
The sting CD made by the editor-in-chief of a private news channel and circulated by the nine Congress rebels who had created a political crisis in the state by siding with BJP in the Assembly, purportedly shows Mr Rawat negotiating a money deal with the journalist to buy the support of legislators who had revolted against him.
