CBSE results: Girls outshine boys

It was the moment over seven lakh students across the country had been waiting for. Early Friday morning, the CBSE 12th board results were announced, and yet again the girls beat the boys.

85.25 per cent of girls passed this year, while only 75.90 per cent of the boys passed.

Chennai produced the best results, with 92.17 per cent of the candidates passing.

Delhi was the runner up with a 84.97 pass percentage.

The countrywide toppers - two Chennai girls Swati Prushti and Gayatri were ecstatic.

"It's because of hard work, constant learning, my parents, all wishers and Gods grace," said Swati.

"I'm so lucky to have such a child. No tuitions, nothing. Just her hard work. I'm a proud parent," said Swati's father.

In New Delhi, Vaishali Garg scored 97.2 per cent. Another girl Shruti Lakhotia who says she didn't even study that well, scored 96.2 per cent.

"I can't celebrate right now. I have my entrance exams coming up," reacted a student from Chandigarh displaying the focused mindset these students are in.
