A man stabbed a woman repeatedly with a knife as people watched, without trying to stop him, on a busy road in Karnataka's Davanagere. The killing has been caught on CCTV camera.
In the security footage, the woman, Sultana, can be seen sitting on a scooter while talking to a man, later identified as Chand Pir, on the road. Suddenly, the man starts stabbing the woman, runs to his motorcycle and flees the spot. The man later drank poison in an attempt to die by suicide.
Shockingly, the incident takes place on a crowded street, but no one tries to help the woman.
Sultana died of excess bleeding while Chand Pir is battling for his life.
Chand Pir or Sadath was in love with Sultana, but she didn't reciprocate his feelings, the police said. Her family also rejected him. When Sultana's family arranged her marriage with another person, it enraged Chand Pir and he plotted to murder her, the police said.
