Many parts of Central India will witness above normal rainfall activity, the weather department said.

Many parts of Central India will witness above normal rainfall activity and there will be increase in precipitation in northwest India, the India Meteorological Department on Thursday said.
In its extended forecast up to September 3, the IMD said there will be below normal rainfall activity in many parts of east and northeast India.
"Above normal rainfall activity is likely over many parts of central India till August 29 and near normal thereafter. There will be increase in rainfall activity likely over northwest India from August 25 onwards.
"Below normal rainfall is likely over many parts of east and northeast India during August 20-29 and above normal rainfall likely thereafter. There will be increase in rainfall activity likely over Peninsular India from last week of August onwards," the IMD said.
From June 1 to August 17, the rainfall deficiency has remained on zero. Barring east and northeast India, there has been fair distribution of rainfall in central, northwest and southern peninsula.
