The Central government has issued a fresh advisory to West Bengal government warning against fresh Maoist attacks in the state.
In its advisory the Centre has warned the Bengal government to guard against attacks on trains, government installations and oil depots.
This advisory came after the Union Home Ministry declared the CPI-Maoist a terrorist organisation. The Left Front, however, said that the move won't help and that it will not ban Maoists in West Bengal.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, CPM general secretary Prakash Karat said, "If we ban Maoists, they will regroup under another name."
He said that the Maoists must be tackled politically and administratively. Karat also said that the Left believes that the Trinamool used Maoists in Lalgarh.
Earlier on Monday, the Left in a statement declared that the Maoists won't be banned.
It must be noted that the Centre had sounded out an alert to five Naxal-hit states against possible violence, as Maoist called for a 48-hour bandh starting on Monday. The bandh was called to protest against the operation underway to secure Lalgarh.
Home Minister P Chidambaram issued an alert specifically to Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal.
