Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar
Panaji:
Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has said the Centre's quick assistance to the Jammu and
Kashmir government following the massive floods has even impressed some Congress leaders.
"There were three Congress veterans and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who praised Narendra Modi Government for the help that was provided during the floods," Mr Parrikar claimed on Wednesday, without naming the three Congress leaders. "Abdullah said 'we are getting what we are asking for'."
"The Modi government never differentiated on the basis of community or party. When there are floods, all people get affected," the chief minister said.
The flood relief measures provided by erstwhile governments were marred by allegations of injustice meted out to the states which didn't toe the Centre's political line, he added.
"Modi government is sensitive and also had capability to help the people marooned in the floods," Parrikar said.
He also said that the Goa Government will announce its financial aid for the flood-hit Jammu & Kashmir by next week. Lakhs of people were still stranded amid massive rescue operations in the state as on Thursday morning.
