Chandrayaan 2 Moon Landing: PM Modi talks to ISRO Chairman K Sivan (PTI)

New Delhi:

Communications with the Vikram Lander of Chandrayaan 2 was lost before it could land on the surface of the Moon, ISRO chief K Sivan announced on Saturday. Amid uncertainty over the status of the lander, the Mr Sivan said "data is being analysed" after ISRO stopped receiving data from the lander when it was at an altitude of 2.1 km above the Moon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was at ISRO to watch the landing of Chandrayaan 2, gave a pep talk to the scientists of the Chandrayaan 2 lunar mission and said "the country was proud of them".

India had attempted history by trying to be the first nation to land close to the south pole of the Moon. Dr Sivam has called Chandrayaan 2 the "most complex mission ever undertaken by ISRO".
