Hospitals in Srinagar witnessed a massive rush today after rumours of children's death due to polio vaccine surfaced in the state.
The rumours spread this morning across the state resulting in huge rush of panicked parents bringing their children for check-ups after the dose of polio vaccination.
GB Panth, the lone children hospital in the Valley, witnessed a massive rush.
However, the authorities have rejected the rumours.
"There is nothing to worry. These are baseless rumours. There has been no such death," Shafqat Khan, Medical Superintendent of GB Panth children hospital said.
Medical practitioners said the vaccine cannot lead to death of the children.
"This vaccine does not cause death. At the most, there can be some side-effects including loose-motions and vomiting. There is nothing to worry," a senior paediatrician said.
