Chennai girl becomes first woman to raise 'Sword of Honour'

Chennai: From a regular BCom graduate a few years ago to an Academy Under Officer, and now, to the first woman in the history of the Indian Army, to be selected for the 'Sword of Honour', Chennai-girl Divya Ajith, has always been the girl, with the glint in her eye.

This time, she beat 244 fellow gentlemen and women cadets, to win the Best All-Round Cadet award and get the 'Sword of Honour', which is the highest award given to a cadet of the Officers Training Academy.

"My choice was to join any kind of service. It would have civil services, if not the Army, my parents knew I would take up, something in the uniform," said Divya.

Be it academics, drills, endurance, or sports, Divya's ensured, she drums up success with every bead of sweat and dedication, she's put her heart into.

"To get the best she says she wants it, I think she's got it," said Beena Ajith, Divya's mother.

As she gets set, on her mark and ready to slap her rifle butts, when the prestigious 'Sword of Honour' reaches her hand, she salutes the eleven months of training, at her homeground - the Officer Training Academy. One that she has only - "Words of honour" for.
