Chennai's $2 million flats

Chennai: Has your dream house always been a riverside apartment, with an attached swimming pool, gymnasium and servants quarters? Well, this dream can now come true in Chennai, if you have two million dollars to shell out. Post recession, it is the result of one of Chennai's biggest land deals.

On the banks of the Adyar river in Chennai, a city builder has paid a whopping 130 crore rupees to carve out 62 grounds of surplus prime land from the estate bordering Adyar Villa, the residence of industrialist and former BCCI chief A C Muthaih.

The plan is for 120 apartments to come up in a span of 2 years, overlooking the Boat Club Road, a posh residential space, home to the Maran brothers and Mukesh Ambani's brother in law Shyam Kothari. The price tag of an apartment here is upto a staggering 10 crore rupees.

" Some apartments are 5000 sq ft and there are pent houses of 6000 sq ft. Each flat will have a lap pool, a gym and even fitness trainers on call," said Nakshatra Roy, director of communications, True Value Homes.

Although these lavish houses will come up on the banks of the Adyar river, the builders are doing all they can to stay environment friendly. They have promised not to cut but transplant all the trees, some of which are a hundred years old on the premises.

"Some of the trees here are 100 years old. We are going to transplant all the trees," said N Ravichandran, Chairman of True Values Homes.

So, if you have two million dollars to spare and always dreamt of a river dream home, then don't wait and head down to Chennai.
