Raipur:
Chhattisgarh Director General of Police (DGP) Vishwaranjan was shunted out on Tuesday, apparently as a fall-out of his widening rift with state Home Minister Nanki Ram Kanwar over allegedly inadequate scale of anti-Maoist operations in the state.
Appointed as the state's top cop in July 2007, Vishwaranjan, a 1973 batch IPS officer, has been replaced by 1978 batch IPS officer Anil M Nawaney as the DGP of the state, official sources said.
Vishwaranjan, one of the country's two senior-most serving officers along with the IB Director, was transferred as Director General of Homeguard and Police Housing Corporation, a post held by Nawaney till now.
The removal of Vishwaranjan as DGP caps his growing differences with the Home Minister who was reportedly not happy with "inadequate" operations in Naxal-hit areas of the state.
