Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today conducted surprise check of Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Jammu and took strong exception to the heaps of waste lying in and around.
Expressing dismay, she chief minister asked the principal of the GMC to ensure that proper cleanliness be maintained.
"I should not see this kind of dirt around the hospital, next time I come here," she said.
She inspected the out-patient department, emergency, general wards, cancer ward, radio-diagnostic facility and drug stores.
She interacted with the patients and their attendants and enquired about the quality of health care facilities being provided to them.
Ms Mufti enquired about the infrastructure deficiencies, if any, at the hospital and directed the principal to ensure that best possible medical facilities are provided to the patients.
She also inspected Rajiv Gandhi Hospital at Gangyal and took stock of the healthcare facilities.
