On Friday, cricketer Anil Kumble's wife Chetna Kumble withdrew her petition from the Supreme Court in a case related to the custody of her daughter born to her first husband.
The apex court was to decide on the custody of daughter of Chetna. The daughter was born to Chetna's first husband Kumar Jagirdar before their divorce.
Now, family court in Karnataka will decide the permanent custody of her daughter.
In 2004, the Supreme Court had given the custody of the daughter to Chetna Kumble. Her first husband Jagirdar was given visiting rights.
Jagirdar had approached the family court in Bangalaru stating that he has got married, and in the changed circumstances he should be given permanent custody of his daughter.
Chetna then moved to High Court and consequently to the Supreme Court. The apex court asked them to settle the issue mutually.
On Friday Chetna's lawyer informed the apex court that no settlement has been reached and withdrew the case.
